just before I head into town, thought I post these.
I will hopefully buy at least one of them, maybe both tomorrow.
question is this: are they both authentic or not, or is only one authentic?
I value your opinion and please give your reasons.
thanks guys, your expertise is appreciated.

Wow M.M. pounced on it!

Even if A was a legit coin I wouldn't want it.. seems a bit too hazy for me..

B on the other hand really pops with details... and I'm a sucker for tonned silver...

on the obverse of B... is there a crack from the "R" of victoria all the way to the "I" in regina?

A is fake. Upper right hand trio of leaves is completely detached.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Ok guys, credit where credit is due:
coin A is a fake listed in Nickelsguys CD of fakes. Obviously he recognized it.
Coin B I have a chance to purchase, ungraded, as is.
What do you guys think it could grade out at?

good exercise, Thank you.
you guys are "on the ball".

47P7: nickles guy has done a lot of work on fakes.... I'm always impressed at how fast he will reply when a fake is ever posted...

With respect to grade... I for one suck at grading coins... From the pics I see it looks like there's a slight amount of wear on the bottom braid.. so I would grade it AU 50-55 depending on the lustre in hand ... though I still would like to know is that a die clash at the R & I .. or what is goin on there...

AGCoin, there is a DC on each of those letters. However, I do not see any indication that it is going from one side to the othe.
I do not have the coin in hand yet, as I used the sellers scans to post the coin.
once I have it, IF I buy it, I will take better pictures and post them.
sorry I can not be of more help.

Thank you.. it takes time, effort, right connections...etc . etc..
then there are others on here with a lot, and I mean a lot more knowledge, experience and possibly time than I have. I must honestly say sometimes their knowledge is simply overwhelming, and many times written in one to the point sentence. I appreciate the set back attitude, experience and knowledge of those members. Factual, truthful and knowledgeable.
However, there usually is some other member(s) who challenge said experience.
That is what a forum is all about.
