You might want to post some up-close pictures so we can see the devices better, but I don't see the DDR from these pics. However, the fact that you posted this means you're looking, which is the only way to find anything worthwhile. You can't win if you don't play the game. Here's a link to some info and pics of the 1982 DDR. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/...982ddr1.html

I can offer a tip or two perhaps.
Try to take identical pictures as you will see at CC (or other informative sites) Use a mix of shots; close up on the item you think represents the condition you seek to get clarification and shots that contain a couple devices for reference Too much zoom makes things blurry and not overly useful Try to take shots of the markers you think might apply; folks here will help you dial in on typing the coin
And hang in there. It's hard to develop the eye overnight, so patience and dedication will get you closer with each specimen. Good luck!!

So...while I appreciate your advice, I have to disagree with your analysis. However I think I should have used a digital camera to begin with. I know in my gut this is a double die, I hope these pictures will help you to see what I'm seeing, I think I will have to re post, I do not see an option to add images..

Still don't think it is a DDR. look at the corners (or serifs) of the letters, and if they are genuinely split then you probably have a winner.

Tiff - the new pic's are better and as the other's have noted, no DDR for this specimen. 1982 presents an additional challenge in that many coins were coined with deteriorating dies making the reverse design washed out especially EPU. That's my target spot when searching the SD variety. Deteriorated dies makes DD identification more difficult especially in the beginning. Good luck on the hunt for varieties.
