I picked this up at an antique shop/cheesy museum in Gettysburg, PA, this past summer. I probably paid too much for it, but I couldn't resist the coincidence of an 1863 cent in Gettysburg. What are your thoughts?

Seems to be some dark hues that come from the smoke of the battlefield. That's called an emotional purchase. I would have done the same thing. I like the grade and condition. The diamonds look good on it. One could make a case for XF 45.

I think it grades XF45 (all diamonds are there)...if not slightly more. It's hard to tell the wear points from the photos.

From the photos, I'd call it XF40.

I too have an 1863 IHC that I bought from a guy who dug it near Fredericksburg.
Cool but sad history.

It seems to be evenly split between XF-40 and XF-45, which is fine and it actually puts me at ease. I thought I overpaid for this coin, but apparently I did not. I gave $20 for it.

I don't know whether the "cheesy museum" curator was selling anything else, but he had a pair of JFK's boxers in mint condition, Elvis' hair brush and his bottle of Brut cologne. I'm going back there in three weeks. If anyone wants to make an offer on the boxers, just let me know.
