I have been searching half dollar rolls for a few months now although I can only get five rolls at a time from my local bank. So far the best thing I have found is a 1964 Kennedy half [actually three of them so far]. I was wondering what the best single coin anyone has found when searching halves.

Probably the 1911 Barber dime that still resides in my 7070.

Well I don't roll search, but I'd say my best find was my 1867 3-cent nickel that I got with a bunch of clad dimes a couple months ago. https://goccf.com/t/186347

Quote:Jbuck, you found a Barber dime in a roll of halves? Sorry, I did not see the "searching halves" part of the question. In my defense, the topic title does not refer to halves.

I have never found anything that would be considered earth shaking but I did find a very nice 1921-d Mercury dime in change I was given from a bank in the 1980's.

I saved up 20 dollars in American nickels from roll searching Canadian nickels and went down to Houlton, Maine and bought two rolls of halves (after showing my passport and having the teller search my rolls for the evil Canadian coins I might have slipped in there).
Anyways, one bi-centennial, not even the silver kind. Oh, and a '94. That was pretty cool considering the rest were all 70s-80s and '94 is my birth year.

1943/2 Jefferson nickel - found roll hunting with my mom. Actually sent to ANACS for encapsulation/grade. Grade? F15/scratched. My mom passed away 12 years ago, but this coin will be cherished forever.

My wife found a 1921 Walker with a VG-F split grade. My best half find is a 1916-S Walker grading a solid G.

I once found a live bug in a roll from Brinks. That was certainly "neat"
