Please help I think this is a fake but I'm no expert. Here is a 1983 D but on both obverse and reverse the backwards looking die clash is a 19th D. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

to CCF. Looks like a vise job, where two or more coins are put in a bench vise and squeezed together.PMD.

That's the direction I'm leaning towards. The problem I'm having is on the reverse the sunken Lincoln is behind Monticello. And how did the other dates and mint mark show up and not the rest of the design. Pretty interesting at the least

Your coin was placed between two other Lincolns and then hammered or squeezed in a vise. It is also worth noting that the host coin is a 1983 while the "clash" on the reverse is from a 1985 coin, something that could not occur at the Mint. Genuine die clash marks almost always affect the fields of a coin but not the devices(the deepest parts of a die). Any purported heavy clash marks on top of primary devices such as a bust are simply not possible with dies of an incuse design.

PSD. Note the areas affected are the tops of the design. If it were a die issue these areas would be unaffected.
