Absolutely! I know in Michigan economy is very bad - worse I have ever experienced. I am nearing 50 years old.

I suppose those coins came from one of two possible circumstances the one you mentioned where people are dipping into coins they really should not be, at least not by spending them at face value.

Or.. kid(s) find there parents "hiding spot" and off they go not knowing any bettor than thinking they have a regular ole dime or nickel or what ever.

In reality I believe someone who has collected coins would not spend a Buffalo nickel for shopping. On the other hand if the coins were an inheritance for example they may not know any better. Although you would think if they received coins as part of an inheritance you would tend to believe they would be more than just spending change.

Of course it could be stolen money?

Found a Germany 20 Eurocent on the ground at work a couple days ago.

When I was young, I sold a kid a piece of bubble gum for 50c. He gave me two silver Canadian quarters. If I had to guess...his mom and/or dad were missing two silver Canadian quarters, and likely a lot more. I guess that's a circulation find.

Another interesting find from work. I picked up what I thought to be five pennies. I stuck them in my pocket and didn't look at them until I got home. One of them was a 1993 10 centavos from Argentina.

How do you get coins from Walmart or normal stores? Go in and ask if they have any strange coins in the register or what?

I used a Coin Star machine for the first time a few days ago. I told my grandson to see if anything was in the reject tray and he pulled out a foreign coin and a War Nickel.
