You do have to wonder how numbnuts got the coins to spend them. Recently in some 7-11's here they are on the lookout for $2 bills because apparently someone reported a whole bunch of them stolen in a burglary, and yes, 7-11 has gotten them. |

Years ago, when I was teaching, I had a student come in and drop down probably 60 or 70 Mercury dimes on my desk, and asked me what they were worth. Being the good guy I am, I told him he needed to take them back to his dad or grandpa, wherever he got them from. |

I got 2 finds this week. The first was a 1945 P nickel, the 2nd was a 55 D wheatie. Not bad, but not good enough to retire on.

arthrene, He said he had "borrowed" them, and was just wondering what they were worth.
I tried to explain to him that the coins were probably very dear to whoever owned them, and that he needed to get them right back where he got them from.
This was quite a few years ago, but I'm fairly certain they were given back.

went to the bank friday got $25 in cents and nothing! no wheaties not even an occasional black dime lol I did get a 1960 silver dime from Walmart yesterday!! now I have two silver dimes! dustin |

My 12 yr old son found a 1972-S and 1974-S in his change pile today.

I received a 1945 Lincoln Wheat cent in change. I know they made a bunch but it's been awhile since I've got one in change! |

I'm just wondering if members' wheat lincoln finds are any of those that I have recycled. I like to redistribute some of those "unsearched" lincolns just to spur the hobby. I imagine some young collector finding one in his/her change and getting excited about searching. Sorry to the regulars here, but there are no 09-S, S-VDB, 14-D, 22 no-D, or 31-S in the recycled coins. But, I have re-introduced plenty from the teens and 20's.  |

My brother-in-law bought 1500 Wheat Cents, for face value, at the ANA Convention in Denver. I think his plan is to spend most of them. Hopefully some excited younger person (or older for that matter), will find them. |
