1953 Voyager, popped it out of a Whitman folder, been there for 30+ years.
Soaked in a PVC free baggie with chemically inert distilled water for 3 hours, still has a lot of gunk on the front, right over the bust.
Judging by the "I" and water lines it is a No shoulder fold.
After searching the forms I should not use a tooth pick but maybe to a cotton swab?
I have been forcefully dunking it into Tue water for a wile with no results. The wreath, hair, water lines and aurora bollialas makes me think it is above junk.
Any advice?

Have you tried an acetone bath? you should do a search on the forum and read up on the procedure, it is more drastic than the water, but will most likely do what you want.

I cant get it, it says file successfully uploaded and I close the window an zilts, sorry. I will try an acetone bath next! A lot of the gunk came off and sadly I decided to nail one part and you can tell...
All and all nice toning and great features, above a 12 but not a 20 by any chance, it was free so hippy for me.

Need a pic to see what the problem is... if it's just toning or some other organic substance..
If it's just really bad toning... the only thing I have heard of is dipping the coin... (yeah I know not recommended)
If it's organic.. than acetone will work

No, she is organic, I will give my '53 NSF and '62 an acetone bath.
Should I give them all a bath wile I am at it? I have 9 Lizzy dollars popped out of Whitman's, want to prime them for 2X2s.
Yes, one was an awful tonned goose, she us going in the scrap pile.

When I use acetone.. I use two small pyrex measuring glasses....
First a small soak in one.. then rinse in the other... I have only done one coin at a time... I've never done multiple coins before... So I dunno... perhaps someone a bit more experienced will chime in there

I have used an acetone bath many times with no problem. This is one of my best results, from https://goccf.com/t/145998&whichpage=38#1652673 (the last penny in the thread) which has something sticky and hairy stuck to it rather thick on the obverse. My picture makes it look less bad, actually. I soaked it for about a week (it was a busy week and I didn't have time to work on this one like what I did below) and now it's a clean coin. Good thing because it's quite nice! I worked on this one with a toothpick over a couple of days after an overnight soak, because there are still gunk on the tight spots: https://goccf.com/t/186807 Just be reaaallyyy gentle with the "scraping off any gunk" bit with a toothpick, one slip of the hand and you can scratch off patina. SPP suggested using a thorn from a hawthorn bush, but I've been looking at bushes and I didn't find any thorns. Must be looking at the wrong ones... Work in a well ventilated area, since the fumes are pretty nasty and flammable. Make sure to use a glass container since acetone will dissolve plastic (I used a plastic beaker once and it melted). Ideally wear gloves, acetone also dissolves the oils in the skin so it leaves it very dry. Even the vapour can dry your skin - I only had one glove for my left hand and that was the hand I used to hold the coin with under the acetone. The skin on my right hand dried out and cracked even though I didn't tough the acetone with that hand. Probably also don't do this under the sun - I've read about it causing copper to go dull under the right circumstances but I've never had my pennies go dull even though I work on the windowsill (the only well-ventilated area in my room, if I open the window) but just in case.
