You know, I would prefer either to any of the dollar coins in "circulation" now!

Quote: The debate could be resolved very easily muddler, but there are just too many people with incorrect opinions. Wow, that's a pretty harsh thing to say about people who prefer Peace dollars! I think it's kinder to say that they are simply "aesthetically challenged". Errr... you were talking about people who prefer Peace dollars, right?

Based on his overall coin designs one may think that George T. Morgan was "aesthetically challenged" when compared to other coin designers of his era. Had they not had the manufacturing issues with the Peace dollar design it could have been a beautiful coin but, there apparently was not anyone working at the Mint at the time that had the knowledge or experience to solve those issues.

I am speechless. Notice my name isn't MrPeaceDollar, so my opinion may be a bit bias. I believe the better question is how can anyone prefer a Peace dollar over a Morgan! Not only does the Morgan dollar have an incredible history behind it, it is absolutely beautiful! Higher grade Morgans are simply stunning (I stare at my MS67 Morgans at least once a week). Though I do find the Peace dollar attractive, I don't think is even in the same league as a Morgan.

Yes, MS-66 or higher Morgan dollar are quite stunning especially in proof like or deep mirror proof like but, the fact is that the vast majority of coin collectors cannot afford such pieces and a mint state Morgan dollar becomes ugly real fast with a bag marked face. The same can be said of the Peace dollars.

Just stating the facts. Not that I would actually do it.
