I think so. I just grabbed the first Morgan (obverse) picture I saw on my computer.

IMO, the majesty of any Morgan speaks for itself.

(Can you tell what side of this discussion I'm on?)

I'm shooting for complete date and mint mark sets for both. Have 77% of the Morgan run and 80% of the Peace run. I prefer the Morgan over the Peace but only marginally. Frankly I love Silver dollars period!

Well, as a purely personal preference, I happen to think the depiction of Liberty on the Morgan dollar is just more attractive than the version on the Peace dollar. Beyond that, however, I love the fact that Morgan dollars are readily available in Proof-like and Deep Mirror Proof-like states (and not so readily available in Proof). Plus, it's easy to find them in incredibly crisp condition. Peace dollars just seem drab in comparison.

So how about a poll:

Who prefers Morgans?
Who prefers Peaces?

Well, I know where my vote went.

On another note, here is Mrs. Peace (Teresa Francisci) in her dollar pose...

If you are interested in coins with their history in mind, then without question the Morgan surpasses the Peace dollar. The lore underlying its authorization, design, production, hoarding, and release from storage is just fascinating. Add in its association with commerce in the American West of the 19th century, and you have a winner.

Numismatically, the Morgan tops the Peace in terms of varieties and quality; wading through scads of Peace dollars with mediocre luster and insipid strikes to find the occasional decent specimen is tedious and pretty unrewarding overall.

I get it that the Peace dollar motif speaks more to our modern aesthetic preferences than does the more staid and formalistic Morgan, but for me that's not enough. A few Peace dollars as type examples sates my appetite for them; on the other hand I don't think I'll be finished collecting Morgans anytime soon.

Truthfully, Lucky Cuss, I couldn't disagree more.

The Morgan, to me, brings up the idea of slapstick westerns, drunken cowboys, brothels, and a very uncivilized civilization.

Whereas, the Peace dollar comes from the roaring twenties. America's victory in the war, new inventions, new sciences, and of course Peace.

Whenever I look at a dmpl Morgan, I hear that goofy piano old timey saloon music.

Honestly, neither the Morgan or the Peace appeal to me - both are kind of boring and they're a lot more expensive than comparable dollar-size coins from other countries. I've always thought that the Latin American Liberty was a lot prettier.

I'd first comment that the "roaring twenties" populated with the likes of Al Capone perpetrating crimes such as the St. Valentine Day's Massacre wasn't terribly civilized, either. I'd also comment that "peace' turned out to be a chimera; all the Treaty of Versaillles accomplished was to sow the seeds for another world war. As far as new inventions go, electric lighting, the telephone, the railroad, and many other of the trappings of modern life were already in use before the 20th century rolled around.

I think it's interesting that in his dotage, Wyatt Earp, then living in Los Angeles (where he died in 1929), remarked to a reporter that the City of the Angels was in his view far more violent and lawless than Tombstone in its heyday.

The debate over appeal will never be solved, collectors have their preferences but both hands down are better than this dollar.

The debate could be resolved very easily muddler, but there are just too many people with incorrect opinions.
