So how about a poll:
Who prefers Morgans? Who prefers Peaces?

I have always thought the open-mouthed, blank-eyed stare of the Peace dollar portrayed a low level of intelligence. Add in how mushy they all seem to be, and I've never had an interest in owning any.

I think both are wonderful and honestly wouldn't be able to make up my mind if I had to choose. There is no denying that the strike on Morgans is superior to Peace dollars, and for this reason I really do like Morgans. However, the obverse of the peace really is much better than the gigantic head used for the Morgan, simply a better design. As for the reverse, I think both are stunning. So it's a tie for me.

Quote:Peace is much cuter. I have a 1964 Carr Peace dollar and it is gorgeous - no strike issues there!

When I first saw a Peace dollar I related to her crown and thought they were stunning and reminded me of the Statue of Liberty. When I first saw a morgan I thought the woman was unattractive and the coin was not a real eye catcher. Since then, I still love the luster of a 1922 Peace dollar but I have hopelessly fallen for lady morgan. I love all of her features, I love the eagle and its spread wings, and honestly I love that putting together a collection is not a quick event. I think they are a revelation. While I love incuse $5 indian obverse and walking Liberty reverse, the only other coin I would consider being a good front back match would be indian nickels and Mercury dimes

Sometimes I find myself asking, why would anyone want either?

I prefer Morgans over the Peace dollar. All I can say is I find the Morgan to be more interesting for me to look at, both the obverse and reverse. I don't have any Peace dollars but that doesn't mean I wouldn't collect any.

Definitely Morgans. I feel as if the Peace dollars are too plain. Thats just my biased opinion :)

I've never been a fan of either coin. Never understood the craze and I usually just pass over them at coin shows. If I had to choose, I'd lean more towards the Morgan side.

Peace Dollars, all the way. Not that I would pass up a Morgan, though, if the price was right.

I especially love the history behind the Morgan dollar. When you have a CC mint Morgan in your hand, you know it's Nevada silver in your hand...more than likely Comstock Lode. I only collect 1878-1904 Morgan dollars. My collection ends with 1904-S.

What percentage of inventory at a coin show do y'all think Morgan and Peace dollars make up? Personally I prefer neither but when you walk in it always seems you have to search for something that's not one of these two.
