I just read through this thread and it kind of makes no sense to me. I know you are all coin collectors, but why do you carry around old money in your pockets? If you aren't going to spend it, why do you carry it. Is it to show to people? I have read a lot of posts in the past few weeks where people refer to pocketpieces. I had never heard of that before...is a pocketpiece just a random old coin that you carry around just for the heck of it?
I hope you don't all think I'm trying to be rude or poke fun at you, because I'm not. I just don't fully understand this...

I forgot to mention that on my key chain is a 1945 D silver nickel, holed of course. I often have old coins in my pocket because I sometimes bring coins back and forth to work. I have a nice microscope at work to look at coins at 40-60X. I don't carry old coins around in my pocket other than for that reason.

I'd be too afraid that I'd lose it or wash in the laundry or something. I get a lot of change throughout the day and of course I look at it immediately. When home I segregate anything that needs to be singled out and the rest into a large glass container and then eventually to the bank. so.....keys......lighter........the days change......nothing special

Actually people carry them for any number of reasons and I bet Luck is among the top ten. My 1976 Ike was a detector find. It was very dark and discolored when I found it. After 2+ years in my pocket it has lightened nicely.
