Hi folks,

Before packing a coin I just sold on ebay I inspected the coin and noticed the most peculiar "anomaly" on the obverse near the Queen's nose. I always make sure my coins are top quality so the buyer isn't disappointed.

At first I thought it was dust or a scratch on the capsule. But no, it is indeed on the coin. Under 10x I found the most interesting thing - it looks like a code 0B7 11 (or close to that) then a series of 5 digits underneath 41411 or 41441.

With the instruments I have I can't tell if the codes are raised or engraved but they are definitely not scratches. This is the first time I encounter something like this. I informed the buyer and sent the pictures so he can decide if he still wants the coin.

Wow very interesting I will need to check my titanic coin. What an odd place for it. Can you see anything without Magnification and is your buyer still interested? It could be a very interesting error coin!!

It is noticeable to the naked eye - only once you realize it's there. But I never noticed it until today!

My buyer said he wants to go through with the purchase and wants to inspect the coin. He is a very good repeat customer so I will send him the coin. I don't mind taking it back if he does not want to keep it.

I'll keep you posted!

Intriguing. Of course this meaning checking mine but any guess as to what these numbers mean?

Oddly the coordinates on the reverse are 41°44 and 49°57

Thats very interesting.
Is it posible that the edge of another coin accidentally fell on this coin while at the mint?
Being that small the eyes can play tricks on us.

I don't think this was caused by the edge of another coin simply because there are two separate and parallel trails. There is a gap on the top symbols. So for these reasons I cannot see how a rim could have done that.

Worth noting, I purchased this coin from the RCM directly. The rest of the coin is flawless.

Intriguing.
