Beautiful details, I`d need one in my set except for the cleaning but I would still take it for the right price. AU or better before the cleaning job. Rather have the toning than scratches

ok guys, why do you say: definitely harshly cleaned?
I can take a photo of a perfect BUNC coin and it looks like that.. or even worse!
so, unless you have support for your statements?>?, perhaps experiment with some camera settings...
look at the 2.nd reverse image..
if you would only see this image... would your verdict be the same?
so please, if you have none or very little experience with photography, offer at least the benefit of doubt.
perhaps the Op will post better pictures from which you could try to judge again?
let me tell you this, and those with photo experience will concur., If you have "funny" lighting and use not the right settings, your MS 66 proof or SP coin will show EVERY ever so tiny hairline! harshly cleaned? Maybe, but please....
Now, it is also possible, within reason, again with lighting and setting, angles etc, to make a lousy coin look like a MS coin... yep!!!!

The reverse of this coin is really nice I would give that side a good MS63/64
The obverse however is a total Mess cabinet rub/cleaning has forever damaged this coin.
Parallel lines = cleaning NOT "Chatter"
The obverse actually looks like it has been sand blasted, it is a Bloody shame because this could have been an outstanding coin otherwise

pacific, why is it, that YOU have never posted a single image, but claim to know about photography?
is it because you have no idea about taking pictures of coins? it is not all that easy even with expensive cameras.
see your last statement! You are simply just guessing. You are not even giving the OP a chance to explain or post another, perhaps better image of his coin.

Trout, there is NO way for you to be sure of what you are saying, unless the poster will provide a real sharp close up, taken under the best and most ideal conditions.
And even then it is NOT conclusive.
You may be right. But for lack of better knowledge, many members here just take the easy way out: cleaned, is one of these ways out, it is a fake is the other.
However, not one single proof is offered, or, as a minimum, a plausible and logical explanation based on what is posted, but always allowing the possibility that you are not correct.
You tried which is appreciated, but you are not sure.
there is a saying: the camera lens does not lie!
that statement is correct. However, it is based on the most ideal condition.
But, it can also see something which is actually not visible to the human eye, even with a regular loupe..
How would you guys like it if YOU had posted a MS 65 coin and had problems with the Camera setup and someone would, based on your lousy and terrible looking image say, harshly cleaned. would you like it? or would you prefer to be asked to perhaps post another image?
just give me a ms 65 or better , even a proof coin and I make it look like it was treated with brasso simply by using the wrong light source and the wrong exposure! AND, never touching the surface of the coin in any way!
Now guys, your turn.
I am not a professional photographer, but I have a ton of experience taking coin pictures.

Actually 47p7 black and white photography is a hobby of mine. My pictures and the time to do them is limited to about 1600 or so ebay listings at present. I am glad you have the spare time on your hands to keep track of who and who does not post pix on this forum.

@a7p7
I have posted hundreds of images on this site and I have recently upgraded to a DSLR with a Macro lens.
Regardless of how you image this coin it will still remain a DOG.
What is your problem? Are you and the OP the same person and what is your agenda here?

One person asked for an opinion on a coin,
six people noted they thought the coin was cleaned,
one is not in full agreement. It is not a perfect
science. It is subjective and full of opinion, but
we have to be respectful of others' opinions, even when
we disagree.

47p7...it's cleaned.
Both obverse pics show the telltale cleaning signs.....parallel hairlines.

You will NOT see these on any non-cleaned coins.

This is coin collecting 101 basics.

Then you know enough about photography to understand why these images are completely inadequate for any accurate determination of the surface quality of this coin.

Stop and rethink, folks. 47P7 is precisely correct. Yes, you can see parallel hairlines on one section of one face of this coin. That proves nothing. In fact, my gut tells me this coin hasn't been cleaned.
