I found this cent recently and thought it to be a little odd. There are small little bumps all over the obverse and reverse of the coin. There are even small bumps in between the pillars on the reverse. They are raised bumps so I have to believe it happened at the mint. Is something like this caused from Die Deterioration or what? I hope the pictures do it justice, I'm still learning how to take good ones.

I'm pretty sure they are refered to as gas bubbles.

I believe this is a sign of Zinc Rot, I might be off on this, but I have seen dozens of post copper cents like this, usually mid-80's. Perhaps it was improper mixing of the metals, or an issue with the copper plating?

I don't think there is a premium on this issue. keep looking, weigh all of your 83 cents as there may be one that is copper and not zinc, which is worth a ton of cash.

It is a plating problem. I think it is debris that was on the blank before plating?

Looks like there might be die cracks at each end of the bottom of the memorial. Otherwise -- zinc zits all over.

Those die cracks are very common in those locations.

@Buddy - Funny thing is I didn't notice the die cracks until you mentioned it. I was more fixated on the zinc zits.

Like John1 said, those little die cracks are common and your coin will die of zinc rot before it's worth more than one cent, but it's nice to have a reference. So, if you've never seen a little die crack -- now you have one and nice pics as well.

Keep hunting. You'll find a better error coin soon enough.

And now I'm off to search quarters with my hubby...

Very common, it's a plating issue with the Mint, especially in 1983.
