Poll Question
I thought this may be an interesting poll..
Only one known in existence received USD $35,075 in 1999, in VF35 condition. Finding one today in any grade would be a significant find.
It is suggested that 8000 were struck... Where are the other 7,999?
If you found a roll, say in an attic, as suggested in another post, would you announce the roll find to the entire coin community?

Send the top 2 for grading. Keep the highest. Sell the other. Stash the rest for a bit.

Yeah, I would definately do my best to hold back the heart attack. Piece meal them out maybe 1 or 2 a year to private collectors.

Heck if I found a roll of 1923 BU pennies I would not release them all into the market either. Unless someone would pay exorbent amount for the entire roll, minus one MS64!

I'd keep the 5 best ones in the family and throw the rest of them out there for others to enjoy.

You see what happened to 1903-O Morgan $$`s and some other dates, when the mint founds bags of them in a vault all unc. They took a big price drop. So the reason to not flood the mkt. If you were that lucky. Maybe 1 or 2 a year. Since We all like to Dream a little.

I would take it into the bank and exchange it for a toonie then go get a 1944 dime in F-12. At the bank they would send them to the refinery to get melted and lost forever.

I'd get them all certified, sell 1 or 2 of the lowest grades, hoard the rest until it's time I need a major life saving surgery and choose not to wait in line in Ontario.

yes I would honestly go around canada selling the same grade that is in existence now, then sell it to each wealthy and large coin companies. I would keep on doing that, then I would sell the other grades to Steven Bromberg for 10 000 a piece

Isn't this fundamentally a question about greed versus reality? Similar sentiments were discussed regarding the Saddle Ridge Horde and wanting to evade taxes. Here we have the same question posed regarding a coin where only one is known to exist. For the Saddle Ridge cache, you could sell one a week and it would take 27 years, and you'd probably get discovered/busted after about a year. Here, you could try to sell one a year and you'd get busted/discovered in about the same time. Exactly who is going to pay "only one known" prices after the third one magically appears?

The Mint did not say that 8,000, 1944 dated coins were made.
