As some of you know, I am trying to collect as extensive a collection of nickels errors from circulation as I can as a goal. Are clashed dies like this considered an error, die state or something else?

Error. As you know a planchet wasn't where it was needed allowing the dies to clash. Coins struck subsequently bear witness to the minting error. I'd say add these to your list. I'm appreciating these errors more for nickels and cents. Fun to hunt for and sweet to find. But I'll take in any denomination.

Quote: Are clashed dies like this considered an error, die state or something else? While I was looking for a reference, Rackster answered your question. But here's a handy link anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mint-m...rs#Die_clash Scroll down a bit to get to clashes.

Thanks for the overlay Coop!
Thanks Junjun!
Rackster, where did you find the 1984 on the website? It looks like you are looking under the "Atypical" link, but I don't see 1984. I only see 1983 and then it skips to 1988. The one you linked is close, but mine shows the "M" to the left of Jefferson's head.

I think yours is a little stronger and slightly rotated. I'm thinking it's different and probably worth BJ's attention. Send CoC some pic's and see where it takes you (attribution I think). OK - now my secret but promise not to tell. I use the Search tool. The scrolling dropdown is sometimes a pain to navigate with the touchpad so I usually do a search and take a look at the hits. Works fairly well...and it save me from frustration.

Well, shoot! The "Search Tool"......i hope the NSA doesn't find out you're telling secrets here! LOL I guess I was searching too specifically. I typed in 1984 and found it thanks!
While I'm sounding like an idiot..... Who is BJ and what is CoC?
Thanks for all of the help and guidance! :)
