....a buddy of mine owns a couple of laundromats, and he said I could paw through a few hundred dollars worth of quarters next week. I won't have the time to examine every one to the Nth degree, but I will be looking for silver. Anything else to look out for that I can easily spot? Key Parks or States/mints? Unfortunately I might not have much time for this first search, but maybe if things go well I can get more time the next time.

Wouldn't bother with the state or park quarters unless you are collecting them. They won't have any premium in a circulated state. Silver should be first priority and maybe look for proofs or s mint park quarters.

I would look for the Wisconsin 2004-D error. They are still out there.

I look at every quarter in hopes of finding silver or a Wisconsin error...

Hey, enjoy when ever you can get mega amounts of coins to hunt. I use a commercial laundry twice a year to do my down comforters and pillows. All the places near me have gone to programable plastic credit cards. Put your bucks in and load your card. No more cashee of quarters. Does your friend need another bag bearer?

Hey thanks all. It will be interesting for sure. Hopefully it "will" happen. I know he must deal with mega amounts of quarters. All washer and dryers around here are still run on quarters. Real busy this time of year and we are going away for the Christmas holiday, but if I can get a crack at a bunch of quarters for an hour or two this time, maybe the situation can grow from there. I will post a follow up afterward.

suggestion from someone who used to go through weekly change from laundromats - get large sheet of plate glass to dump the coin on. Why? B/c a silver quarter's sound will be unmistakeable. My grandfather had the business. Each week on "collection day" the machines were emptied of coins into bags. We dumped. the bags onto the glass and could immediately tell if there was silver. Yes, you can just look at the edges - but if you are in a hurry, this works well.
