I'm thinking MS63-64. Probably not 65. Only got to take a quick picture, so I'm not sure if they're good enough. The smaller photos are blurry, and one of the huge is sideways, but I'll let you guys just have the bigun's because of quality. Nice toning, and picked it up for only $25! EDIT: Messed around in Photoshop with the photos: EDIT 2: Title and to say SCROLL DOWN to see new photos! Zoom in on the reverse photo! Here's the HUGE photos: https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd....5fd1ea560144https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd....af13e10548d2![1921-D-Morgan-Dollar-High-Grade-Score?-[picture-Update]](https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/uploaded/CoinCollector2000/20141214_10866650_572221762879818_589468303_ncopy_opt.jpg) ![1921-D-Morgan-Dollar-High-Grade-Score?-[picture-Update]](https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/uploaded/CoinCollector2000/20141214_10850392_572221769546484_1551189227_ncopy_opt.jpg) Edited by CoinCollector2000 12/13/2014 7:31 pm

That reverse is really nice, easily 63/64. Nice score for that price.

That is nice, I'd say MS64 easily. I have a 1921-P that I think is MS65, sent it into ANACS, came back as MS62, (I've posted it here before and the general consensus was I got robbed) I know I can grade too. No matter what the TPGs say, they aren't always right, and this looks to be one of the nicer 1921-D Morgans I've seen in quite awhile.

Nice '21d, and for $25 great pick up! Man that reverse looks great! From the photos they look pretty flawless. And the obverse is hard to tell, well, A- from the pics in general, and B- the toning's making it even more difficult to tell.. But it doesn't really look like there's much going on I terms of marks.. Especially distracting.
From these pics I'd say it's an easy 64.. But would love to see better pics of both sides as it could be a 63.. or go 65

For $25, just about any Silver Dollar is a deal. Nice grab!

Like I said, I will try to get better pics, but at the time all I had was my grandfather's iphone.
There are a few tiny hits on the cheek of Liberty. Also, the picture didn't pick this up, there are quite a few awesome die cracks, running from the E of E Pluribus, and all the way to the second star. Nice ones on the reverse too.

I'm seeing a fairly remarkable example of the species. Although the pics are pretty good coming from a random phone, I'll await more dedicated stuff outside the 2x2 before making any grading decisions. Obviously, of course, I want to see the cracks, to attribute it. Edit to add: iPhone cameras continue to amaze me.

I'm posting from my phone and would prefer to grade/attribute from my PC later; the coin looks pretty good from here. If you're referring to the lines extending upwards from each wing, those are marks scraped into the die by the feeder fingers which shoved the coin out after each strike. The reverse was the anvil (bottom) die for Morgans, and those fingers passed over the anvil to both push the coin out and then retract. Eventually they just wear into the die. I bet you'll find that area more polished-looking than the rest; this is normal.

Quote: I bet you'll find that area more polished-looking than the rest; this is normal. Glad to hear that. It had me worried for a moment, as I thought they spelled out an old cleaning, but the coin just looked too darn good. Thanks as always Dave, can't wait to see the VAM and Grade you decide on. I tried looking for the VAM because the die cracks were so awesome to a guy who has never had a major die cracked coin, and even though this may not be "major" it's still nice in my eyes. I'm getting addicted to Morgans.... thinking of selling a lot of my baseball card doubles for them. I have thousands of the doubles, and even more of the singles, so time to sell for coins!

My plasma is in the basement and my PC is on the second floor, so you gotta wait until the game is over. The cracks I can see are kinda common taken individually but rather unique as a group. I had a couple initial thoughts for them which didn't pan out, so more research is needed.

Unique? Does that mean I might have a new VAM? Wishful thinking.

Die cracks are like fingerprints in that no two dies crack the same. For that reason, they are invaluable in attribution - even if the feature for which the VAM is designated is hard to see or missing, the cracks still allow a positive identification. New VAM? Unlikely, but anything's possible. For the record, I have this one as a pretty decent 64.

Is it worth sending it off to NGC or PCGS? I only paid $25 so I don't really mind paying a little more.

It looks like an EDS VAM-1AE.
