Hey guys! Just picked up this guy in a lot of coins. Can't tell if this is a mint error, or damage during circulation. Any help and opinions would be great!

From a distance, looks like glue. Hope not. An acetone bath may get to the bottom of it.
Rest in Peace

Most likely solder, the coin was not struck with that lump.

That's a shame. I wonder if the coin was used as a button.

Well I'm a jeweler, and a coin collector, so I'm just going to find a good home for him in a piece of jewelry. I just didnt want to damage a nice coin if it wasnt already damaged =(

If it's solder it may come off with a touch of heat, though you may also end up causing more damage than it's already got. Might be worth a shot though.
