I found this roll hunting and wondered if anyone had an opinion on this coin. It looks a lot like the 1966 DDO. I've included an image of a "normal" Kennedy too for comparison

I see a die crack on the nose to the eyebrow. Also some heavy die polishing+die wear on the eye down to the nose and also you see the die is starting to show die flow lines near the mouth. The die is not fresh on your coin like the lower coin's die which is probably an EDS example. So I'm thinking it is a die issue. I would like to see images of the motto. Most of the doubled dies on this series are on the motto, then on LIBERTY.

I'll try to load some more pics tomorrow or Sunday. Thanks for looking. I don't even think I looked at the motto. I was too excited about the other doubling.

I can see no other doubling anywhere on the coin. The die polishing has rounded off any sharp points on the letters. I wonder if it isn't just the die slipping and causing the doubling? Did the 1966 have doubling on the Motto? I can't find any pictures of it.

With seemingly that much work being done to that die it vey well could be abrasion doubling .

Coop, I'll mail it to you to take a look at it. My capabilities are not adequate. I use my cellphone to take pics. I can't get a good magnification that would be clear enough.

I'm taking it in to a dealer sometime next week, I'll let them look at it and see what they can see.

If you have a hand loupe, hold it over the lens of your cell camera. It will help magnify the image, however you will have to hold it a lot closer as the focal distance will be a lot shorter. The higher the magnification the shorter the focal distance. It works like a charm, I do it all the time.
