@captainrich, that thread you mentioned is also one of my favorites. It hasn't seen any activity in almost a year; must be time to revive it.

The final Territories PNC is Northern Mariana Islands -- number 6 of 6 of the Territories series. Another set of islands out in the middle of the Pacific nowhere that I'd wager none of us here at CCF has ever set foot on. I think this cover is really nice with that large land mass right off the beach. I also like the design of the reverse.

Now I need to find some more covers, unless you want to be treated to 50 Statehood ones.

@CelticKnot: Thanks for posting the Territories PNCs - they've been a great add to the thread!

Here's one to "fill some time" until you find your next covers to post...

It's a PNC issued by Fleetwood back in 1988 in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Australia's early British settlements and the roots of today's Australia.

Here's a PNC issued in 1982 by the U.S. Capitol Historical Society to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of George Washington's Birth:

The cello encapsulated medal was struck by Medallic Art Company. Elizabeth Gordon Chandler is credited in the MACO archives as designer of the obverse. "MACO BRONZE GOLD PLATED" is edge lettered on the medal. It's listed as MACO # 1982 -002 and was struck in 3 inch, 1-1/2", 1-3/8", and 1-1/4". The example below is 1-3/8".

@cptbilly: Very nice! I've always liked the US Capitol Historical Society PNCs. I have the one you shared, but with an antique finish medal.

I also posted a couple of its "cousins" earlier in this thread:

- 1981 Victory at Yorktown
- 1983 Treaty of Paris

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, jbuck and commems. I have the ARBA PNCs which were posted in the thread; the one above is a nice complement to those. PNCs are a fun niche collectible and affordable too.

This "FDC" celebrates the 1981 Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.

The Royal Mint were amongst those commemorating Charles and Lady Diana's global event. They struck almost 27 million copper-nickel, and sterling silver proof, Royal Wedding Commemorative Crown coins. The Lady Diana and Prince Charles coin shows the married couple on the reverse, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
This PNC was in an auction lot I picked up a few summers ago.

How are PNCs put together?

Is the coin enclosure produced on the printer or is it inserted afterwards?

How does the coin get into the enclosure?
Does it come in two halves, coin popped in, enclosure sealed with heat?
Or is the enclosure sealed around the coin?

Does the manufacturer have an arrangement to get BU coins direct from the mint?

Are there any production figures for PNCs?

If coin cards can become more desirable because they are rarer, perhaps that could become true of PNCs.

When were PNCs first issued?
