Good day all! Wondering the rarity of such variety as the photo for 1891 larg cent? What would be fair purchase value for VG-F? I a, interested to purchase but do not want to overpay. Edited by JeyRey2000 12/30/2014 2:19 pm

A fair price would be between 10 and 12 dollars

Hans Zoell monikered the term 'handle C.' The conspicousness of this Die-Crack makes this an interesting and popular anomaly. Many coins continued to be struck and the crack continued to enlarge. The die-crack on the original post is from a later die state. Due to the popularity, I would estimate in the range of $25, and higher as the grade increases.

If the coin is indeed an F-12 coin it's full value would be 30.00 would be a fair price, the variety is not that hard to find, if it's a VG coin then 20.00 would be fair a fair price. The seller should expect to get 60% to 70% of the true value on any coin when selling. Both values I've mentioned are full price for the grades mentioned

Nice strachman! Now you need to collect the progressions of this die crack. That would look interesting.

They have some decent stuff there once and awhile. Usually about 400% over price but once and awhile something sneaky at good value.

It is actually one of the most common 1891 LDLL reverse dies, but the die chip makes it an interesting and popular coin. In Dies & Diadems I included pictures of several die states of this coin.

That is what I'm trying to do I have a 4th one but it's in an ICCS holder and, I'm not there yet to be able to take picture of coins in the holder. I would like to add another 4 more or more at different stages, the ICCS coin is long an thin like a die crack.
