As of December 28, 2014: 2013 Uncirculated Mint Set number stood at 375,967; which is about 16,000 lower than the 2012 Uncirculated Mint Set (392,224) 2013-W Burnished ASE also has a lower mintage (222,091) when compare to the 2012 coin (229,804). The different is only 7,000+ coins though. So far, the secondary market for the 2013-W burnished ASE didn't change much, even though its final mintage had been announced months ago. We will have to see how the secondary market react to the Uncirculated Mint Set in the next few months. There are still chances on ebay to grab the 2013 Uncirculated Mint Set at (or even below) issue price. I would expect the price to rise w/in the next month or so, using the trend from previous years.

Don't forget to add a tad over 43k to the W ASE numbers from the dollar set

Foxwoods is correct with the grand total mintages, however it does matter when being graded. If the ASE came from the UNC dollar set, it will carry that designate. Generally, graded coins from a set carry a higher premium than their standard counterpart. I don't think the secondary market has caught on to the low numbers of 2013. The 2013 Silver Proof Set is another good example with a mintage of 24K more than 2012, yet the 2013 set sells for about $100 less than the 2012 set.

The 2013-W ASE burnished number of 222,091 already included the 43K coins from the $1 set. The burnished ASE in its own package is only 178941 at the last time that I checked.

Where are you finding these numbers? I know about: http://www.usmint.gov/about_the_min...sStatistics/I ordered an extra 2013-W uncirculated silver eagle a while back I never opened and decided to look at the mint order today because I saw this post. Memory served me wrong because I have ordered 2x 2013-w uncirculated that's unopened in the shipping box according to the mint order form! Surprise for sure! What was the 2012-W uncirculated numbers without the annual dollar set, just by itself? Sorry I just started collecting and all these numbers are new to me...

Foxwood, aging is a natural process....hehehe. With so many coins/series/varieties, I had to create an excelsheet to keep track of each mintage. This is actually part of my fun in collecting US modern coins. Thank you for bring back the article.
iamwayne:: That's the same link where I get the number. I also subscribed to mintnewsblog.com to get the updates and ideas from them.

Crap... Reading this made me just now go and BIN a 2013 mint set. I got it for $27 w/free shipping. I didn't get one from the mint in 2013, for whatever reason I don't recall. I was just going to get the set "one day"... but ya'll scared me into getting a set now.
Needed doing anyway, you just gave me motivation. I can see it going up a bit, at least for the next 5-10 years, before it settles.

It's good that you are getting it at pretty much issue price (the seller sold at a loss). The rule of thumb for these Mint Set is to: Either buy from the mint or buy at/below issue price, NEVER to buy them in after-market at it's high price.
Once the dust settled on the fact that 2013 Mint Set has lower mintage than 2012 Mint Set, the price balance of the two should be in favor of the 2013 set. However, how long the price of the the 2012 or 2013 set will hold depend on how the mintages of the current/future year go (ie: 2014, 2015 and forward).
Prior to 2012 low mintage, the 2011 was the lowest and at one point in time, it was at the similar price level that the 2012 currently at.

Just ordered one on ebay after reading this. So from what I can tell the 2013-W burnish and the 2013 uncirculated mint set is the lowest, not 2012 and the market hasn't caught up yet?

Got mine from here. Apparently he has several: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Mint-S...em2a4a8f533eMine arrived in the mail today, and was perfect. They even sent the original mint cardboard box that it went to the original owner in. I noticed the auction said the packaging might be compromised, so I sent them an email saying I would take their worst compromised set, because I wasn't keeping the govt packaging, the coins were going in my Dansco. I expected a mangled package, but it was only slightly curved, like it wasn't stored on a flat surface.
