Jefferson Nickel, 1943, No Mint Mark?

SteveCaruso Pillar of the Community United States 1796 Posts	Posted 01/07/2015 12:38 pm It's potentially a Henning Nickel. A contemporary counterfeit of some repute and quite valuable. However, looking at the patina -- which to me looks silvery -- the mint mark could simply have been worn away on this one (Hennings tended to be a bit heavier). Higher resolution pictures are needed. :-) Also if you can check how it rings when flipped compared to a silver nickel and a cupronickel nickel, that would be a big help. A drop/ring test with a known War Nickel and a regular nickel will help identify. Your nickel could be a grease error or PMD, but doesn't scream "Henning" to me. Report this Post to the Staff
