How is it that you got it for $60 under the stated reserve?
In any case, that's the right way to buy your first, legitimately certified.

The price is right on point for the grade. The grade is at least 5 points and probably 10 points low. No_way it's XF40. Not a chance. No.

Why are you apologizing?... If you are sorry, than why did you buy it? Very nice coin though...

Ha, you should only be sorry if you DIDN'T buy that one. Great looking coin and at a great price. If you have any buyer's remorse, let me know and I will relieve you of your burden!

Quote: The price is right on point for the grade. The grade is at least 5 points and probably 10 points low. No_way it's XF40. Not a chance. No. Yeah, before I bought it I did a quick photograde check, and it actually looked at least XF40. Quote: Why are you apologizing?... If you are sorry, than why did you buy it? I'm not really sorry. Was being a bit facetious/sarcastic Quote: How is it that you got it for $60 under the stated reserve? Yeah, it was a bit odd. Originally it was an auction with a reserve. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know the reserve was $260, because I never read the whole listing. I was high bidder at $200. The auction ended without the reserve being met and I got an email for a second chance offer for a BIN, and I grabbed it. These reserve auctions are a bit of a turn-off, and I think that's why there weren't more original bidders. That's why I'll always at least put a bid in on these.....you never know. I just hope the seller mails it

That is a nice pickup! My 1878S Trade dollar is my current favorite in my type collection. I paid a bit more than you did for a PCGS coin. IIRC I paid $280 for a XF-40, so you got a good deal (or I got a bad one, or whatever...) I normally don;t care too much one way or the other about slabbed coins that cost in this range, but with all the Chinese fakes of TDs out there...... I just love the symbolism of the Trade dollars and their history: Liberty seated on a bail of cotton with tobacco, corn, and wheat looking toward all the $$$$ to be made across the Pacific! Good purchase.

Nice looking Trade dollar, solid for grade and appears to have nice skin. A good buy for the money, I think!

Yeah like some of the others I would have jumped on this coin for my 7070. Nice grab.
