Quote: Pepactonius Very nice gold ..... You posted bullion .. so these were not intended for circulation? By "bullion", I meant that these coins are very common, and currently have very low numismatic premium above melt value. I have no idea how many gold coins circulated in the UK in 1932. In the US, I've read that gold didn't circulate much after WWI.

Ok ... I understand I think different parts of the U.S. had some gold coins circulate more than others. The western U.S. liked spending silver dollars and I think more gold coins then the eastern U.S. Some of our gold coins trade in the bullion ranges too. _________________________________________________________ Here is a 1932 that I have. But does have more of a collector value.

1931 Swiss silver 5 Francs. This coin was struck for the first time this year as a half-dollar sized circulating coin; previously it had been a dollar-size coin struck in relatively small quantities and used alongside banknotes. As the silver content was worth much less than the coin's face value, this may be seen as the first of the high face value circulating coins - 52 years before Great Britain introduced its 'round pound'.

That is another coin I need ... But need to save up for. Top coin for my Mexico type set. Thanks. Fortunately, these are very common, so you should have little trouble finding one. In fact, the 1947s (which include restrikes up to 1972) sell for just about the smallest premium of any gold coins, excluding current bullion issues. The pre-1947 coins go for slightly more, but they're still cheaper than any pre-1933 US gold. All this means it's best to get these when the price of gold is low.

The pre 1947 coins are a little smaller, in size, than the 1947. My Mexico type Dansco album is for the smaller size.
Of course, they are ...I think 1.2oz, so it is still a amount of money I need to plan for.

Quote: Nice 1931 S .... Jbuck Thanks! It took me a while to find it. The cent, especially the wheat ears, is a lot sharper in person. Those images were taken while it was still in the 2x2.
