I checked out my local ads today, for wheat pennies. Saw one ad there that said. "I have multiple coins for sale. NO SILVER. Indian heads, wheat pennies, unc. Memorial penny rolls, etc. If you need coins, call me". It gave me a thought. That I should post an add. Local coin collector, Will Buy Wheat Pennies, or somthing like that. So I did. Got home from work, called that guy in the local ads. This guy is an old timer, been collecting since 1959. Told me he has a little bit of everything. Told him I'm mainly into wheat pennies right now. He says "oh I have over 11,000 of those. Went over there bringing with me 93 dollars. Any ways I spent 73 dollars. Took the potentially more valuable dates I could think of off the top of my head. He has every date individually rolled up. I wanted to buy it all, but he wasn't sure what how much he wanted. Said he would have to pull all of them out and calculate it up. To figure out what a good bulk rate would be. All the dates left behind were 40's and 50's. Also had uncirculated memorials. So I grabbed all the potentially more valuable dates I could think of at the time. Edited by kurdlezuit 01/20/2015 11:10 pm

Tubes on the bottom are mixed wheat's' from the early to The later years mixed. Tubes on top are memorials. LARGE fish oil bottle, is full to the top of the label with mixed wheats. He threw those in no charge. Said they had green corrosion or somthing on them.L. I'm not going to complain.

Nice finds. You are starting to build a nice collection. I like how you chose the better years for searching. Now that you know they were not searched, I would buy more. If you found nothing, then I would buy more from that source. Always nice to hear what is local as you can save a lot of shipping.

Just contacted him yesterday, I was going to go meet up with him somtimes this coming week. Most of the wheat cents he has are 40's and 50's left. I was going to buy all of his 41 p, 47 p, 51 d, and 55 p's. And any more good uncirculated memorial years he has left. If anyone wants the rest let me know. He was planning on giving me a bulk deal on these. Oh also he has an Album with nice coins in it. I will ck those out as well.

Circulated examples are less desired, but there could be so much in there. Some the years I would think would be interesting are 1917-P, 1922-D, 1927-D, 1934-P, 1936-P, 1938-P,D,S, 1949-S,D, The 50's are always interesting.

Well, I went over and bought 1200 more coins. B plus, reserved his nicer binder wheat coins 1909-1939. I have to wait for funds to come in. He sold all of his Indian head pennies 2.00 a piece, the day after I was there. He has many Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, in binders. I'm not interested in those. So again if interested let me know. He has all the 1940's-50's left individually rolled by years. Many uncirculated memorial rolls (various years). I can't afford to buy much more L. He has terminal cancer, and knows his wife won't know what to do with them when he passes, so he is selling them off now.

Something I read the other day: "What series of coins has the most inverted mint marks?" Most think the 1946 Cents. But see what is the right answer is on the link below. Although he doesn't call it that, but that was my observation. http://www.doubleddie.com/1179161.htmlSo you/someone should examine what to purchase in the future in coin age?
