Here are 4 surplus Morgans and as usual with Morgans I have no idea what grade they are or if there is any VAM number to attach.
After I have a consensus on the grades they will be off to the for sale section.

Thank you for your thoughts and taking the time to look.

Welp Richard, I'll help with what I can see, but I stink at this game and I will not be able to attribute any of these for you. Let me start by saying that I think the 1921 is the only mint state coin. What I find interesting is the weakness on the letters on the top of obverse and bottom of reverse. Regardless of that, I think I see wear on all of the others. I would say everything else to be high XF or AU. So, in a nutshell:

1897 - AU58
1886 - XF45
1889 - AU55 (cleaned?)
1921 - MS63, can't tell what's at her nose and high on her cheek bone. I guessing the weak leaves at 7 o'clock are due to the strike.

Again, take these with a grain of salt and know that I always throw in a +/- 3 points when grading by myself...

I have a Morgan that has a very similar look to your 1886. On the reverse of mine the toning is the same, dark black with bright, shiny surfaces throughout. It also has a lot less wear on the reverse than it does on the obverse. When I got it there was a yellowish residue on parts of the reverse, an acetone dip removed the residue revealing the bright surfaces. Due to the uneven wear pattern & the residue, I'm about 99% sure my coin was once glued to a belt buckle. Is that a possibility with your 1886?

Its possible I don't know the history of the coin before it came into my hands. It would explain the difference in quality between the obv and rev.
