Here's another nice BU Wheat cent that came in today's mail. I've been buying a lot of Wheaties lately. It's a 1931-S (a coin long on my want list).

It's full red with the exception of a small toning spot below the IC of AMERICA on the reverse. In hand it looks original to me with no obvious signs of cleaning.

I'm trying to decide if it is worth the cost to ship it to NGC for grading.

Thanks for your opinions.

It's a full red...

It may be the photos but, it doesn;t look 'full red' to me, I can see some light toning on the obverse, just my opinion.

It's a beauty. I think it has a shot at 64RB but also think it might make 63RB which is still a nice grade for this coin (I have a 63RB in my collection and am quite happy with the eye appeal).

Nice! MS63 or better. Red or RB a close call.
Rest in Peace

Pretty coin. I wouldn't (personally) have it graded unless its your intent to sell.

I won it at auction for only $103.

It was one of those auctions where I threw in a bid never thinking I'd get it and no one else ended up topping mine. I am considering selling it so the cost of having it graded might be worth it.

It would cost me $18 to send it to NGC (along with a percentage of the postage of the group of coins I will be submitting).

Don't slab it. Too many fools send coins to the TPGs hoping they'll overgrade them which usually happens.

If you plan to sell it, slab it. If you plan to keep it, there's no reason to have it graded.

Agree. If you plan on flipping it, TPG it.
