Hi all, I am new here! I've been looking at investing in bullion bars and coins via various online systems. Does anyone have any experience in doing this, not via ebay? The companies I've been looking at are Bullion Vault, Gold Money and Bullion Index . If anyone has any feedback on these companies or any other suitable companies please let me know. Thanks in advance!

I've done a lot of business with providentmetals, gainesville coins and always had a pleasant experience when I used to order online. I've built up a reputation with 2 of the local coin shops here, that one doesn't charge me tax, and the other charges me spot for their junk bucket of sterling... I melt down silver and make jewelry. The guy that doesn't charge me tax, he says whatever ya want I'll beat or match gainesville. When ASE's first came out, I bought them for $21 each, no tax. With him, he collects coke products so in the past I've brought him in old coke products, or if I get Wheat penny's I check em, and if they're just normal, I give them to him, as well as Buffalo nickels and stuff, I check them out first, but if they're just normal ones, I just give them to him, so he can charge his .20 or whatever it is they go for. The other shop where I buy my sterling from, I had an instance, where they had known me for about a year, a guy taht just started working there under charged me, by about $80, I called them that day when I got home and told them about it, told them the next time I came in, I'd pay what I owed... they thanked me tremendously and now have a great reputation with them, they are THE best shop in my town, and I live in a fairly large city. Their prices are fair, they just charge sales tax on anything under the $1500..., but didn't stop me from dropping a lil over $200 there today. The owners are awesome and so is the employee who helps me. I'm lucky to have them, because theres a few shop where you could bring in a 1 oz gold eagle, spot for the day would be $1300, and he'd offer you $1100... Anyways gainesville, providentmetals never failed me, and with gainesville I place some large orders with them in the past. I'm new BTW, I used to post on a website called goldsilverchat.com and got ran off by all the old school people on those boards, never met a weirder web board in my life... that was a few years ago, when the owner swore up and down that silver was going to $100 any second! LoL... Hope I helped!

I am in the habit of buying a tube of ASE every month. I shop price with the major online dealers and then go to SDBullion.com and either find it cheaper or invoke their Low Price Guarantee via a simple online chat. Then I go to my online bank and use Bill Pay to send them a check, thus getting the cash discount. I've never had any problems doing this.

There are those leery of buying online, for fear of the "paper trail". I'm not one of them; I've used Provident Metals in the past with no problems whatsoever. I try to support my LCS when I can.

i agree with fistfulladirt. get in good with your lcs or local bullion dealer. I have found it to be the cheapest way. its in your possession so no need to wait on shipping or worry if its lost, mailman/neighbor/punk kids stealing it out the mailbox etc.

I also try to support my LCS/LBS when possible. But generally I can wait 2 weeks to save $50. Also their hours don't typically work with mine. I've used JMB with no problems (and yes, you have to spend at least $100 with them). Great service, free shipping.

I've been happy with purchases from provident metals, and AMPEX. They compete closely on prices and run specials, so best to compare prices between the two. In general, provident's prices are better.

I buy on ebay all the time. 1oz, 5oz, 10oz bars. Never a problem from reliable merchants. I would only sell at my brick and mortar though.

I have bought from MCM on e-bay and have never been disappointed. Outside of E-Bay I buy from Silvertowne and APMEX with never ever having a problem.
