In my opinion that should have been graded F-15. The person who graded that could have been in a good mood giving it a high grade and it looks to be a good example of "buy the coin not the slab". As I said I'm still learning to grade IHC's so I could be wrong.

I have no explanation for what is in that PCGS slab. The only VF25 in this thread is the raw one. The other one? Well, never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. I'm sure they meant well.

Technically there is no way the slabbed coin should have graded any higher than F-15. I read once that an average grader at the TPGs grades 800 to 1200 coins a day. Given that amount of volume there's bound to be some off graded coins. In my opinion this is one of them. This is a classic example of why I don't trust third party graders.

And it's a new slab, too. That's egregious.

@Cascade - Don't worry about how a TPG graded your coins, if you're happy with them then that's all that matters.

PCGS still enjoys their marketplace advantage, though.
They - and everyone else - have tightened the grading in the last few years. PCGS is brutal on Morgans these days. All the same, in the last year we've seen a few truly ridiculous evaluations in PCGS slabs. Yours is one of them. It's disturbing.

Maybe I'll send in the raw just to see what they give it
