I believe the term you meant is struck through die cap, not clash. And yes it is a pretty big disappointment about that hole.

It still has a full rim so I think it is genuine, as for value I would have no idea. if it weren't a steel cent it would be almost completely nullified by the hole. But steel cent errors, especially like this, are pretty uncommon, so I think it would fetch a couple of bucks on ebay

Capped die that it is seems OK to me.
But I am just thinkin' not a capped die steel cent, but a bronze capped die cent, zinc plated AFTER being holed. Can't confirm with the date, either way. It may have been created in the late 1940's, to be suspended around the neck.
Perhaps not probable, but certainly plausible, difficult to prove.

If a magnet picks it up, strongly, it's a steel cent.

Struck through late stage capped die I believe is the correct term..
If it's the real deal.

Just because its listed up for such a ridiculous amount doesn't mean its worth that much. I could put up any common Wheat cent on ebay for $1 million dollars, does it make it worth a million dollars? No.

An error like this, while nice, should only fetch $300-600, if that. One with a hole cuts down desirability by a ton. I personally wouldnt drop more than $30 on it, but I could see it get up to the hundreds on ebay if youre lucky
