This coin unfortunately was a circulated coin. Looks normal to some fattening on motto. But markers match 004? Any thought...I may just be looking too hard again. L

It says rim Cud is suppose to be at 8:00 and 10:00 not sure if this is part of a rim Cud above the "N" or not?

Looks like the common master hub doubling to me. Here is the 004 http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=eds

Thanks john. I thought the same thing. My mistake was looking at the markers first before inspecting the motto fully.

A point to consider when using marker first. Match up the hub doubling, then the markers:

Like fingerprints, die scratches have to be an exact match. That is what sets them apart.

Wow, that is a good education piece... nice to see them in a side by side. Scratches are so close, yet just slightly off. No wonder I was having problems. Thanks Coop

If you are looking for just the die scratches, you might consider, what if they aren't there yet or what if they've flattened. (this die is an EDS so the later probably wouldn't happen on this die.) But always find the hub doubled, doubled die first, then match the markers. Markers are a nice confirmation of die state, but keep in mind the dies go through clashing, polishing over and over. So they might be in the same direction from die to die. Look for the differences in markers, not just a die scratch off a device. Notice what sets them apart.

I usually do look for hub doubling first, I for some reason, just happened to look at reverse die scratches and that's when I started stumbling, tripping, falling... Haha lesson learned.
