hi guys I have another strange item..... its a 1c aussie coin die ..... now I was told you can tell the year by the numbers on the die .. so would anyone know how to work out the numbers one of the numbers is supposed to be a decade year the other a asset number cant wait to find the answer and wow they shore made shore it was finished a small part of the rim left you guys are the smart crew someone will know for shore

now from what I have been told and there is no reason not to bliive as the bloke I got then from aint no dumby with coins the 0/ means the year of the decade an the 6092 well I have no idea so this is a 1c 1970 coin die "The Royal Australian Mint" by Dion Skinner which was published in the mid-1960's

I believe it was normal practice to grind the 'face' of the die to remove the engraving before sending it to 'heaven'.

Yeah,it was the same with Govt.(Pre.Dec days) Tax Stamps,face ground off then dumped at the local tip where "Ėmu's" picked them up with other rubbish to sell.There should be hundreds(Thousands?) of them out there somewhere,surprised they don't show on ebay more often.

MATE THEY GROUND HERE not much left a small part of the rim on the base sap this would be one for you what are the numbers

well I guess not to much is known about the actual dies ..........anyway made a nice diplay case for them and gave them a rub with some wet and dry sandpaper in wd40 the laquer and in the case super glued a few coins as a display so if anyone nows anything I am still looking for info in the numbers any thought on the display idea

I had no idea you could get them myself until I stumbled on them and ................ and I didn't need to much thinking time before I said yes I will take them .......... but still no one knows the number on the side the first is the date letter the other is the asset number ... from my info just cant find any written proof yet still looking
