The last coin is indeed 1917-S! Another key date! That means ALL SIX dateless coins I got today filled holes. Was not expecting that. So here is my final update from what I got today:
Coins acquired: 44 Amount spent: $28 Amount spent per coin: 63.6 cents
Coins remaining: 20 Budget remaining: $36 Budget per coin remaining: $1.80
Today was a great day for my collection!

Just got a lot of 15 dateless buffs off ebay that I paid 4 bucks for. No luck so far. 3 had readable dates (1917 and 1919 x2), and one was a 1913-d type 1. 3 have been revealed in vinegar so far and are 1917, 1918, and 1925. All duplicates. So I am now 0 for 7 on this batch with 8 to go. A little disappointing after going 6 for 6 on my last dateless batch, but it's to be expected now that I am pretty much down to exclusively coins with a mintage of under 10 million. Hoping to at least get 1 or 2 hole fillers from this bunch.

The very last coin I dated revealed a 1926. The mintmark area is also worn so now I am treating that side. Crossing my fingers for a D or especially an S!

It seems like the only hole filler out of those 15 coins was just the 1914. Kind of a bummer, but I think I will be able to resell at least a few of the coins individually and get most of my 4 bucks back that I spent on the lot.

I will have two updates today. The first is that I finally attributed my 1926 nickel as a 26-D, so that one goes in the folder now. That means 2 of my 15 nickels from that lot filled holes. So I now have 46 down and 18 to go.
Today, I bought 8 dateless buffs (all with D mintmarks) from my flea market guy for just 3 bucks. So I'm hoping to hit a few more holes with these. I will update tonight after their acid soak.

Tody was a good day! I bought 8 dateless buffs all with D mintmarks today, and 3 of them were hole fillers! 14-D, 19-D, and 20-D. Not a bad haul at all.
I now have these dates left to find:
1913-D (2) 1913-S (2) 1914-S 1915 1915-S 1918-S 1921 1921-S 1923-S 1924-D 1925-S 1926-S 1928-D 1929-D 1931-S
Still some tough dates in there, but I feel like I can do it!
Here are my new stats:
49/64 coins found (76.5% completion!) $29.66 spent on 49 coins (60.5 cents spent per coin) 15 coins left with $34.34 left to spend ($2.28 budget per coin)
I do have some inventory now of duplicates, but I am not counting the cost of acquiring those in my totals. Just what I spent on each coin in the folder. I am confident I can flip the duplicates and recoup that money.

Update time! Thanks to the generosity of a fellow member here, I was given two more coins in the set. 1914, and 1918-s, both acid dated. Now the 14 I had already found after he mailed them, but I will be replacing it in my book with the new one, and selling off the old one. So I won't be counting what I spent on that first 14 in my total any more.
So given that, here are my new stats:
50/64 coins found (78% complete) $29.40 spent on 50 coins. (58.8 cents per coin) $34.60 left to spend on 14 couns ($2.47 budget per coin remaining)
Feels awesome to hit the big FIFTY! Will probably take me longer to find these last 14 than it did the first 50, but I continue to power through!

New update today. Two new coins to add to the list. One was one I got a decent deal on but wish I'd waited on: a 1923-S acid dated for 1.29. I actually found a partial date one for 70 cents at an LCS yesterday, but I'm still well under budget so not too big of a deal. I made up for this with the other coin I found yesterday: a partial date 1914-S for 25 cents! Hard to beat that deal. Even acid dated ones run for at least a buck on ebay. So in total, that is two new holes filled for $1.54. Here are my new stats: 52/64 coins found (81% complete) $30.94 spent on 52 coins (59.5 cents per coin) $33.06 left to spend on 12 coins ($2.75 budget per coin remaining) I am currently on vacation, but when I get home I will have a full roll of nickels in the mail that are all dateless, and all with mintmarks. That should hopefully get me REALLY close to finishing this thing up.

How did you go from $29.66 spent on 49 coins (60.5 cents spent per coin) on 3/14 post to $29.40 spent on 50 coins. (58.8 cents per coin) on 3/16? You added a coin and went backwards in your total spent!
The most difficult will probably be 31-S, as this coin is rarely in dateless lots. I've restored a lot of dates from mint marked dateless lots. 26-S sometimes shows up, but 31-S almost never. Thus, you will need to set aside about $10-15 for this key date. You can get a F-VF for $15, G-VG for $10.
Good luck with your project!!

I explained why in my post about coin #50. I was given one for free that I already had, so I sold off the duplicate and subtracted the amount that I had spent on it.

Also, if you check out ebay sold listings, you can find examples of 31-s sold for under $5. They are harder to get at that price, buy they are out there.

Another update today! This one started as bad news, but wound up being great news! So I bought a roll of 40 Buffalo nickels for about 30 bucks on ebay that were all dateless, and all had a D or S mintmark on them. Well when I opened up the roll yesterday, I was disappoited to find that almost all of the coins had no mintmark and many of them were in really crappy condition, and had already been acid dated with the date worn off again. I contacted the seller, and he apologized and agreed to send me the correct roll, and said I could just keep the first roll, all at no charge. The seller is a coin dealer with thousands of feedback, 99.9% positive, so I have no doubt it was an honest mistake, and I am actually quite happy I got a free roll out of the deal. So given that, I am counting any new coins I get out of the first roll as free since the roll I actually paid for has still not come in yet. In this roll, I actually managed to find 2 hole fillers! 1921, and 1925-S! The 1921 completes my date set now, and leaves 1915 as the only P mint I still need. I was able to identify the 21 by the hair detail, which was cool to finally be able to see in hand. So given that I am counting these two coins as free, this is where I currently stand: 54/64 coins found (84.3% complete) $30.94 spent on 54 coins (57.3 cents spent per coin) 33.06 left to spend on 10 coins ($3.30 budget per coin) So I am now down to the FINAL TEN COINS!!! Here is the list of what I still need: 1913-D (2) 1913-S (2) 1915 1915-S 1921-S 1924-D 1926-S 1928-D 1929-D 1931-S If I can just get at least the two 1913 coins as well as 21-s and 26-s in acid dates, I should just be able to buy the rest off ebay and still finish under budget. I can definitely see the finish line now. And I've only been at this for just under a month!
