nice coin Thad it looks like maybe AU I say that because of the dings on it otherwise it would grade up there a bit more. it is the 001 so it is the big one. I don't know how big though they are not that expensive in BU. i just picked one up in MS-64-65 for 25 bucks. nice photos too are you scanning or shooting? Gary

MS65RD, EMDS, probably a stage B.
value: $20-$25
USCV: 1995P-1DO-001 (coppercoins.com) CONECA: DDO-001, 1-O-V NCADD: WDDO-001 FS# 01-1995-101
Oh...and correction of terminology in the title...it's "doubled die" - not "double die".

WOW! Nicely documented there copper! Thanks! The values listed on your site are more in line with what every is asking for these: F12 VF20 EF40 AU50 MS60 MS63 MS65 5.00 8.00 10.00 15.00 20.00 30.00 50.00 Is there any chance these will be as sought after as the 1955 DD?

I believe the values on my site should be adjusted downward for the time being. As for their popularity and whether they will ever gain the value of the 1955 DDO....I highly doubt it. They are nice examples of doubled dies, but so many were pulled out of circulation and saved in higher grades I doubt they will ever attain the level of the 1972 DDO much less the 1955 DDO.

Just wondering why the values should be adjusted downward for the time being? Every single dealer I've talked with the past month tells me Lincoln prices are going up pretty fast. Of course, it's more evident with the older dates, but it's happening nonetheless.
Thanks Copper, I always value your input to my Lincoln posts!

No single series of coins goes up as a whole, and Lincoln cents are the biggest follower of that rule. Modern high grade examples are one area, early Lincolns are a different area. Die varieties are yet a different area, then there are errors, which are different altogether. Then you have rolls, bags, bulk, typical raw coins, etc. All of these areas move up and down independently from one another.
The 1995 doubled die is very flat in pricing, and has been for about three years now. They aren't seeing any real up-swing, and many people who wanted one now own one. This keeps them flat and stagnant. The only thing that could really surge the prices upward for them is the possibility that the grading services MIGHT eventually catch on to the fact that die variety collectors want early die state examples of their die varieties, so they could go to placing the die state on their labels. This would make the far scarcer early die state coins move way up in value. As it stands, however, the scarce early die state coins are available for the same price as the common late die state coins.

Guess I'll have to start looking somewhere else. At the Countryside, Itasca, Lemont, Illinois coin shows those are going for about $60 and up to almost $90. Seen some for $100 lately. Must be the climate. I sure would like to see the MS grades around here for less than $50 as noted. If on line somewhere, haven't seen that either. Again, must be the climate. And an MS65RD for about $20, WOW! WHERE?

Uncertified pieces are still selling for $20 on ebay, and I have sold them in the past, when I had them available, for between $30 and $50.

I don't think you'll find one of this quality for $20 anywhere. Also, per the coppercoins website, the 1995P-1DO-001 looks to be the best one. The ones on ebay mostly have crappy pictures and you can't tell which variety they are: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nk..._sacat=11116I paid $35 for mine, I think it was a fair price.

BadThad. I agree with you on yours. Thanks for the Link to that pile of 95's. Not to many for $20 though. Most are about what they are selling for at all the coin shows I go to. Many are climbing up to the $100 area. No postage, handling, insurance at a coin show.
