Hello everyone;

I am trying to get an idea on the grade of this coin. Sorry if the pictures aren't clear enough, I had to take them through the encased holder.

Thanks a lot!

Lovely little coin.

Rare on the ground, maybe a couple hundred known. This is Variety 1, the scarcest of them, characterized by being the only variety with the mint mark over the 2 instead of the 1. XF, I think.

My first impression was low VF but after researching further this date and mint mark suffers from a weak strike at the centers. I'll say VF-30

I would grade it XF. No significant wear in the hair, full headband. There seems to be some detail missing on the reverse, but it doesn't seem to be matched on the obverse.

Yeah, that's a strike artifact. Good places to key on wear for these are the wingtips and hair bun - no way those match the center for "wear" so one immediately starts thinking about strike.

Closer to AU than EF I think. There is full hair detail on the obverse and traces of luster remain near the rims. The blunt reverse detail looks completely consistent with strike weakness.
I would not be surprised to see this coin in an AU-50 holder from PCGS or NGC. It's a very nice piece!
