I went into my new favorite antique shop today after work to buy some coins and I ended up buying a mixture of AG/G-4 Barber and Standing Liberty quarters for a very reasonable price. But I also bought a 1917D Standing Liberty quarter (right breast exposed) in excellent condition. The detail in the face, hair and shield is incredible I will scan it at work tomorrow morning and post the pictures here. What should I do with it? 1) Keep it because someday I'll regret selling it. 2) Sell it raw on the CC forum 3) Send it in and have it graded then sell it on ebayThanks guys and gals. Personally, since I need the money to pay my bills, I'll sell them AFTER getting the coin graded properly. I think it's not worth it to get the coin slab unless it worth more than $50 or $100 because the submission fee is at least $20 already (which is equal to 35% - 20% of the coin value already). The other benefit of slabbed coin is authenticity; if you know the coin is authentic.... there are no need for that any more.
If you don't need money, thinking about building a collection.... then just keep it.
If you are generous/very nice, just sell it to CCF members for a fair price (you'll make some money) and everyone happy.
Just my pennies thought.

Make a peepshow with Ms. Liberty and her dirty sinfulness! Sell it on the board and if it won't sell then try ebay.

Okay everyone here are the pics: Anyone care to give their opinion on the grade? I have to tell you, I was pretty pumped when I realized what I had just found. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Put it in the contest/giveaway section. If that won't work for you, post it in the grading forum to get a consensus on a grade & then list it in the sale section.

If it's to nice for you, just send it to me. Free of course but I'll pay postage. Keep it. You'll regret any other decision later.

It's a beauty - so why would you sell it? I don't think you will find too many more like these at any antique shops I would enjoy it a while before making any decisions .

An example of what cherrypicking is all about. Lots of nice mint luster on the obverse looks like. If I were you I would keep it. Anything I cherrypick I keep these days. You always have that memory of having found something valuable on your treasure hunts. Now, what was the location of that antique shop again...?

Are those scratches between the head and the E or just attempt to clean the gunk out. The back has a had a good rubbing.
What's the opening bid? $50.00?

I think your coin deserve VF20 or may be even VF30 if the coin look better than the picture. According to PCGS's "Rare Coin Market Report" of September F12 is $60 and EF40 is $130. Red Book put VF20 at $85. Great find. I say you keep it unless you are desperately needing money. Congratulation. Bruce
