That is the Eisenhower specialist club's (the Ike Collector Group) attribution sticker. They've designated a series of high-interest Ike varieties and they get the sticker.

This one strikes me as reasonable, in the sense that Ike varieties get little respect otherwise and the Ike Group is the acknowledged governing body (like EAC, for instance).

See here: http://www.ikegroup.info/?page_id=28

Their write-ups are well done, with clear descriptions of the variety and good photos.

Yeah, those guys strike me like they mean business. They employ sound research procedure.

Though I haven't really chased after Ikes yet, I did pick up a copy of their big encyclopedia book, it's chock full of great information on so many die varieties it makes my head spin. "The Collectible Ike Varieties: Facts, Photos and Theories" is the title and can be found here in hardcover, spiral bound and paperback (I recommend the spiral bound so it will lay flat while using it alongside your Ikes).

Thumbs up for the Ike Group. It's pretty expensive, however I got lucky and saw a copy on ebay last year with a "Buy it Now" sale right after it was posted and jumped on it for $19.95 shipped.

vermontensium - I don't think of DIVA as a sticker, it's a lot like VSS - a way to identify the varieties that the TPGs don't (because it's too hard, or there isn't value add, or ...)

Think of these reputable services for variety collectors as what Night Train is to winos - just their drug of choice...

That's the reality of it. DIVA and VSS serve the same role. One might expect to see nicer examples with DIVA stickers than John's in most cases, but that's only because high-end Ikes get that little respect from the TPG's.
