Morgans dad a discussion would not be a discussion without opposing views... I see many are rationalizing "not liking" these coins because they think the coins are too expensive...

Morgans Dad... I guess I am one of those closet collector types. I bought the dime and ordered the quarter. When the half dollar is released I will order one of those as well. One of each. For me. Because I like them. I have worked hard most of my live and have and do not have an unlimited budget. I put so much aside for new coin purchases in a separate account (my coin piggy bank) and pick and choose how to spend it through the year. The mint announced these last year and I have planned ahead. My hubby has his interests he directs some disposable income and I have my modest coin collection. I do not buy coins based on what I think they will be worth in the future. When I meet my maker what I have collected and enjoyed will be passed on to our now 29 year old son to do with what he wishes. I have been able to afford very few gold coins and I think he will enjoy these 3 someday. I am looking forward to the delivery of the quarter and the release of the half dollar.

So in 2017 will we have a 24k gold "Morgan" on a 1 oz American Eagle planchet? Or maybe a Seated dollar in an ounce of gold?

I don't know about the gold Morgan dollar next year, but seems logical to perhaps produce a high relief Peace dollar for the 2021 centennial.

GR58 Thanks as always for the GREAT pics! Can't wait till mine arrives! Thanks Morgans dad. I enjoy all the posts and opinions here and read a lot but at the end of the day the only person I need to please with my collection is me and I do.

Man, that was quick, GR58! Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow and I'll try and post a close-up picture of the coin without the capsule.

Has anyone else's stalled on the shipping? My shipping label was created on Friday, but it still hasn't shipped out!

What do you think GR58? Is the coin sharply struck?

machine20, if your shipping label was created after about 2PM CDT (Memphis,TN is in the central time zone), it really won't ship until today. It has been my experience (I have been ordering from the mint website since early 2000) that the mint's notion of "shipped" is the creation of he shipping label but that actual shipping takes place at around 2PM each business day and any tracking # generated after that will wait until the next business day at about 2PM to transfer to the carrier. My shipping label (AKA tracking #) was created at 10AM CDT Friday and had a UPS origin scan at 2PM and actually left Memphis at 12:30am CDT Saturday (UPS ground). Your coin should actually ship out later today. The former fulfillment provider was in the eastern time zone and the cutoff was about 3PM eastern, and hasn't really changed since 3PM EDT is the same time as 2PM CDT.
