I viewed some hi-res close-ups of this "quarter" on other websites and must say the mint did a much better job with these than the Mercury "dimes". The gold quarter is sharply struck and fully detailed, even looking FH!

I am rethinking sitting this one out. I can't spare the $500 right now and really want to get the Walker Half this winter for ~$950 and am planning ahead.

Hey brother can you spare a gold quarter?

Will be interesting what the total number sold will be by the end of the week.

I still believe this will sell out.

According to UPS tracking, mine has arrived in my state as of an hour ago, so I probably won't get it in hand until tomorrow.

I think the Mint needs to find a "happy medium" when it comes to household limits on stuff like this. Maybe it's just because the cost was twice as much as the dime, but it can't be a coincidence that with a household limit of 10 the dime sold out within the first hour and with a household limit of only one the quarter is still available for sale.

Maybe the half dollar should have a household limit of 3? Or 5?

Got mine today also. Congrats to the mint for doing a super nice job on these. The quality is far better than what was done on the Mercury dime version. Hope they can also do a good job on the WL 50c. Also nice to get one that is flawless.

barryg - check the 6 o'clock position on the reverse of the picture you posted (directly underneath the DOT between QUARTER DOLLAR). Is that a strike through or die marker or ?

It's nothing I can see with the naked eye or a loupe, so I'm going to call it an artifact. Maybe a hair?

Here are some closeups from additional shots I took of the reverse, neither of which appear to show the mark:
