Here is one that has eluded me for a very long time. Its not in great shape with Environmental Damage and cleaning, but well worth what I paid. Only 20 or so known to exist. The die cracks on the obverse make for an easier attribution, but I have found the same obverse with a normal reverse on a few occasions.

The doubling is seen on the lower part of the reverse, arrow tips and the leaves are the easiest place to see the doubling. Pretty obvious.

Pics are not the best.

These are the best pics I can get at the moment. Here is a link that shows a higher graded coin. Its pretty obvious once you see it.

Looks like the real deal to me. Die crack along base of headdress confirms it. Nice pick up

One of the things I love best about numismatics is that bragging is encouraged and showoffs applauded.

I agree with this pic it sort of looks like Machine Doubling, but you can definitely see split points on the arrow heads. So I would have to say it is a Doubled Die. Nice coin.

I won't be able to get better pics until Friday, but I'm 100% confident that this is the Snow-6 DDR variety. As Waxemm said, the arrow points are fully split. Rick snow has a few in MS listed on his website right now if you want to see better pics of where the doubling is.

Here are some close ups.....Have not taken full pics yet, but the coin looks how I expected it to look. Environmental Damage and some cleaning. Still a very tough coin, and a good example for my extra Dansco page with cherrypicked varieties.

OH, that's so awesome. It causes me to You better keep more than one eye open to find one. About 45,589,000 were minted and he says there are only about 20 found. Just amazing. Spadone's major Variety Guide of 1963-64 mentions the 1883 having a recut "U.S America" and a recut "America" but no mention of this variety. I wondered when it was discovered and publicized?

Would you tell us where you cherry picked it? Like at a Coin show, dealer store, auction, yard sale, or what? Just to good a story not to know how.
