Stumbled on this on Pinterest, the blog it came from is gone but the pics are still hanging around. Now, the purists may need to take a breath, or a zanax, I dunno, before they check this out.

That Series 62 would need more than the original 331 c.i. engine to cart that load of pennies around!
Would have looked fabulous in silver dimes; the owner would then have to known as a mobile silver stasher!

I'm not so sure about that, sel_69l. One box of cents is 2,500 cents. My math says that many cents could easily cover 80 square feet with a generous margin of error. I'm not sure what the surface area of a vehicle like that is but can't imagine it's much more than double that.

So we're talking maybe 35 pounds if we use two boxes. That's probably less than a week's worth of groceries.

I have calculated that just over 50,000 19mm diameter pennies laid hexagonally woud be needed to cover my classic sedan, which is 4.95 metres long.
155 kg of pennies would be needed. That's the equivalent of one fat person.

My first postulation without arithmetic was wrong.
A 331 cubic inch OHV Caddy engine of 1949 should be easily be able to handle that.
