So I needed to return an item, and I usually just try and contact the seller and deal with them, and I'll return the item, and usually promptly receive my refund. So this time I do the same thing, and the seller tells me to just follow the ebay process for a refund, ok, no problem. It actually was very easy, a return shipping label printed, and I returned the item and got a wonderful message from ebay that the package was received and I would probably be receiving my refund by March 12th. That's pretty funny, seeing as I got the message on March 4th. Just like a bank, any reason to hold your money for 7 days.

After a certain amount of time you can escalate it to support if you are not happy with the seller's response. I just returned coins too. I couldn't tell from the pic that many were cleaned and 2x2s were marked "XF" but they were VG-Details or F-Details at best. Should I leave a feedback stating this? The seller has all positive feedback and many of them.

I'm not sure, but I think it's out of the seller's hands at this point, and ebay will issue the refund. I'm still waiting. You can be sure if I don't get the refund by the 12th, I will escalate. As far as your case, yes, I'd state whatever I thought was appropriate in the comment section of the feedback, but if you get your money back, I wouldn't leave negative feedback. EDIT: I just called ebay, and they said if the seller doesn't refund by 3/12, the ebay system kicks in and automatically refunds the $.

I was going to leave neutral feedback since the seller should have checked to see if the coins matched the 2x2 description. For instance I bought a lot of Barber dimes and one of the coins marked as 1901-O had no mint mark. It can be hard to see everything in a lot of coins in 2x2s. Individual coins are easier to see. Marking on 2x2s often service as description and many sellers use them to describe coins. Many grossly exaggerating things though, marking coins as scarce or key dates when they are common which to me is just deceitful.

I'm pretty sure ebay gives the seller a 5 day window to pay. I'm in the middle of my first return for refund under the new system. The buyer mailed on the 4th & provided tracking which shows it got to the main postal hub in my state 3am yesterday morning. Plenty of time for them to get it to me yesterday much less today but I still haven't seen it. I'll refund immediately upon receipt of the item & am hoping the buyer acts right.

I decided to leave neutral feedback. I always checkout coins as soon as I get them whether on ebay or locally. The sellers name says they have been selling coins since 1994. If it was a non coin seller, I would definitely not said anything.

Are you aware under the new seller policy, you just cost the seller 1 defect? Once a seller gets 7 defects from different buyers, it can end their selling career!! I hope those coins were really worth causing the seller a defect. Lately ebay has become more punitive towards sellers. It's almost not worth the risk anymore. Buyers have no idea the rules sellers have to adhere to!! The amount of risks there are. One day there will be no decent sellers left! Then where will you get your coins, if you don't have a nearby dealer? Or price will rise to cover all the risks. Hey for fun, one day, read up on selling requirements and restrictions. I see certain people are always having problems with seller. These people should just stay away from ebay, as there's frequent disappointment. Sellers now have to wait for 6 month before knowing whether a sale is solid or not. Reason Paypal now gives the buyer 6 months to file a claim. Think how you'd feel, waiting 6 months to know, if you have to issue a refund. I stopped selling, the risk is too high.

So if the seller doesn't issue a refund in the specified time then ebay pays you the refund? That means the seller made money off you AND got their items back. hmmm.... I am actually going through my first refund process. And the seller received the coin set yesterday according to tracking. Now just waiting for the refund to be issued. My seller refunded on the next to last day before the ebay refund would have kicked in. Hopefully you'll get yours soon.

You can get enough seller defects to end your ebay career without messing anything up yourself. Under their rules, USPS is quite capable of ending your career for you, with no effort on your part.

Two different issues mentioned here. If a seller refunds you in-time then I don't see a case for negative or even neutral feedback. They SHOULD refund the day they get the coin back but I wouldn't be hasty about leaving them negative as long as they did process the refund.
But the case where the 2X2 is marked a higher grade than reality is a completely different animal IMO. I NEVER trust grades as stated in an ad or on the 2X2. I look at the pics and if I can't tell then I have to decide if it is worth the risk ( buying from ?-able pics ) or not. Usually it is not and I pass. If I do decide it is worth the risk and buy ANYWAY, then if the coin turns out a dud ( and some WILL ) I return it. As long as the seller refunds my $ I would leave no feedback at all. I feel like I took a chance on bad pics and that is as much my fault as theirs. So no feedback at all.
On the other hand, if the pics were doctored or lit strangely so as to hide flaws and it neither matches the pics "in-hand" nor the description - says its blast white and clean and then you get it and it is very toned but the pics were flooded for example. Then negative feedback as well as the return are warranted. Or if they use stock pics but don't declare that and you get one with a different cert#, etc.
I do think it completely foolish to put ANY trust in what the seller claims is the grade ( on raw coins ). Thus you have to be ultra cautious with buying raws. Whether the grade is stated in the title, body, or pics. MOST overgrade and want more than the coin is worth. That is obvious to even the most naïve newbie.
