Any rumors from the Mint about any special sets in 2016? It will be the 100th anniversary of the Walking Liberty design and the 30th anniversary of the design on the American Silver Eagle.

As a side note, it will also be the 100th anniversary of his Mercury dime design.

I haven't heard or read anything.

So, if we like gold, great. If we want silver, then we get nothing.

Yeah, that is just gold ..... and just the 1916 coins. I was wondering if they were going to do anything to commemorate the walking liberty design and/or the designer. They did a special set for the 20th, then the 25th for the ASE. Imagine the beautiful silver set that they could come up with for the 30th anniversary of the ASE and the 100th anniversary of the same design on the Walking Liberty.

The design and the designer are far more iconic than some of the subject matter of other lame sets that the Mint has released lately.

Probably sell the three gold coins, and then later come out with a set that has the silver eagle AND the two Weinman design gold coins so they can sell everyone the same gold coins all over again.

I don't think we will see silver versions of the three coins because it is believed tha that would require Congressional approval.

They can always add various finishes/mintmarks to create an ASE set for its 30th anniversary.

U.S. Mint told me that the 2016 proof American Silver Eagle would have no reeding on the rim, but instead have the words 30th anniversary (or words to that effect) exact wording, idk - but will be similarly edged like the smooth-edged,worded Sacagewea dollar. No date of release was told to me however - a nice set w/a reverse proof included would be nice though.

Great time to re-instate the Mercury dime instead of that Roosevelt thing.

You could always build a 1915 set if you can;t afford the US Mint's gold debacle.
