I got my $50 again this week in 20 and 50 cent pieces. No keepers in the 50 cent lot.

20 cent: 1 x UN, 1 x SA, 1 x 1971, and the one that I was kind of happy about was a 2001 IRB with a space between I and R. First one that I have seen.

I find it interesting that over 21 million '05 'Coming Home' coins were minted and 1.6 million '05 platypus coins were minted, yet I find about 10:1 more of the platypus. There must be a lot of people pulling the commerative issues out of circulation. I actually keep all the plats. I reckon they'll be difficult to find in a few years.

I have different figures written down for the 05 coins: 58.6m for the platypus and 33.5m for the Coming Home. I can't remember where I got the figures from.

I agree with blueczar - I find the 20c coming home coin much tougher to find. The mintage is as what blueczar said. PDF from the RAM can be found at http://www.ramint.gov.au/about_ram/...malCoins.pdf

Oh, well that explains it then. Mystery solved. Unless I am reading it incorrectly, the McDonald guide shows a mintage of 1.6 million for the 2005 Platypus. I guess I have a bunch of 20 cent coins to take back to the bank.

The figure in Maccas is only up to 30 June 2006, and there were further figures released by RAM later that gave different mintages. The figures quoted by blueczar1512 are from the RAM document.

2005 - Platypus - 58.6 M
2005 - Coming Home - 33.5 m
