Outstanding ... PCGS F12 is a lovely grade for such a difficult coin.
Enjoy!

A strong coin no doubt. My 1877 will be an AG03 for sure. I did just pick up a 1909 S NGC VG10 IHC though.

I said the 1877 "will be" an AG03, so I don't have it yet No way can I afford that beauty you have. Since you asked, but not to sidetrack your thread, here's the 1909 S I just bought. I thought the price was pretty good for a Sunday afternoon auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-S-US-I...p=true&rt=nc

edweather One day you will try to save up for a G-04 easier to sell if you need to down the road. No need to have a F-12....you see we all feel the same me I am saying to guys with anything above a F-12 I simply can't afford it but it did not hold me back to get the one I could afford (took me a little while to save up but it is worth it as long as you buy the nicest one you can afford for that specific grade). We all have different budgets the trick is to learn to enjoy what we can afford.....I would love to own say a 1894-S Barber dime but it is NEVER going to happen. But it does not stop me from enjoying the hobby. Nice 1909.....you see I do not own a 1909 yet.....but like you and the 1877 I will some day in the near future buy one for sure. My set goes from 1793 to 1909 (the last Indian cent).

Because if you think about it a AG-03 will cost you almost 450$ and a G-04 will cost you about 650$ to me saving up the difference would be a better option especially in your level of happiness towards your purchase. You almost paid 350$ for you 1909 so I imagine you have the means if you take the time to save up to get to 650$. Maybe I am wrong?

redcentcollector ... That's a good looking 1877, color and planchet, BUT can you read the full LIBERTY on the headband? edweather ... I think that's a good buy on the 1909-S. Coincidentally, I just bought a 1909-S IHC at a show. It wasn't slabbed, but the dealer graded it VG-10 as did one of the TPG'ers at the show. Yet, I can read the faint, full LIBERTY, and it's problem-free. The price was $340. I'm guessing that PCGS might grade it fine. I tend to believe that PCGS is overly generous when grading key date coins.
