I think the seller was being totally unrealistic. $100K for this coin and then expecting that despite being told that recent auctions went for $52K and $48K. He needs a reality check, sorry. Rick's offer of $40K was more than fair based on the recent auctions.
Quote: Should the owner have gone to an auction house?
Maybe but that would have been a risk as the final bidding may have gone for less. When the auction house takes their cut (usually around 25% I believe), then he would have netted even less than $40K if the coin sold for $50K.
The owner would have lost 10-15% right off the top for fees, and who knows it may not have gone as high as the last ones. The owners were obviously not really wanting to sell the coin, they just wanted to see if someone would bite at an absorbent price.
If I were rick I would have at least offered to broker the sale at an auction house, but I get the feeling Rick was getting the same vibe I was from the guy. NO SALE.
Um, it means the person who put it on Youtube decides where it's visible. Programming licensing agreements & such affect what countries are able to show what shows
