just got a nice '64 in my change. Nice red luster.
I put it in a 2x2 right away.
I got wondering if this was the best way to that nice just minted luster.

I think the main thing is to keep it in a climate controlled and dry environment. If you live in a humid area, you can use desiccant packs - I have my nicer coins in ziplock bags with a desiccant pack in each bag.

Love finding old copper like that - 50+ years and still mint red - nice!

a penny will turn brown because of oxidation... remove oxygen out of the equation and you'll remove the browning that takes place over time... ziplocks are good for that.

I'm looking at a way to vacuum seal some jars from all the "gemmy" pennies I have found from CRH'ing... just put them in jars in the garage and who knows perhaps my grandkids will thank me for it!

Go out and get some plastic cent tubes, and fill 'em up. That should be all that's needed. If you're like the crazy people, then put the tube in a plastic bag with some silica gel and you'll be all set.

I keep my red cents in paper rolls. After all, when the coins are pressed together tightly, the only toning that should occur to them is on the end coins and rims. I'll find out how well they survived in a few decades.
